Roadside America

Day Four - 12/22/2003
Tuscon, AZ to Phoenix, AZ

During our stop prior to Tombstone, Kevin discovered Seguero National Park east of Tuscon. After seeing enough tall cactii in cartoons and in movies, we decided to go and finally see them for ourselves. So after we saw Tombstone, we headed further west towards Tuscon. One of the things that stuck out to me the most about these tall cactii is that the bottoms look exactly like trees that we're familiar with back East. Another thing I noticed was that even though this place was right outside of a major city, the entire park was silent! I could not hear any sounds at all, not even cars or anything like that, except for us walking around.

These pictures can pretty much speak for themselves.

Truly a beautiful scene...

Of course, no trip to a national park would not be complete without settling some old scores. Here is Phong proving the old Russian proverb that "when one has a hammer, everthing looks like a nail."

Phong - 1, Cactus - 1
