Beginning just north of Flagstaff, and lasting all the way through southern Utah and probably just to outside of Las Vegas, we have been off the grid. There is no usable cellular coverage either from Sprint PCS (which roams on Verizon Wireless out here) nor from Cingular (which roams on AT&T, Alltel and analog Verizon Wireless out here).

One objective of this trip was to not to enjoy a white Christmas... oh well. We did manage to gather our tents up in the pouring snow in record time though. Anyway, we headed out of the park in the driving snow and continued north towards Monument Valley, Utah. As we flew down Arizona State Route 64 East towards Cameron, we managed to find the "Not-So-Grand-Canyon."

We could not seem to escape the storm coming out of the Grand Canyon either... but it provided us with some nice shots.

We finally found some Indian ruins! These are the Betatakin ruins at the Navajo National Monument.

Phong took the last 2 pictures above using a telescope at the ruins sute. The image below was pretty at the time I took it, but it showed that we had no idea what we were in for for our drive through Utah...
