So we woke up near Blue Earth, MN at the rest stop there off I-90. There really wasn't much to see at all in southern Minnesota except for some farms and the windmills in the pictures below. However, I will definitely report that I-90 in Minnesota has to be one of the worst roads in the USA. All of those damn bumps made it impossible to sleep while Sarah drove!

We finally hit South Dakota later that morning. Honestly, I was expecting South Dakota to be a lot like Minnesota, i.e., flat and boring. Boy was I wrong! This state has enough tourist traps to make Lancaster County in Pennsylvania blush!
As we pulled in for breakfast, we got a look at South Dakota's idea of "One Stop Shopping." And in case you were wondering, yes, there was a McDonald's on the left side of this building!

Another thing I noticed, beginning with the Des Plaines Oasis near Chicago were more "themed" rest stops like these on either side of Interstate 90:

For those of you who enjoyed all of the cheesy billboards up and down Interstate 95 on the East Coast announcing "South of the Border", then the Mitchell Corn Palace is definitely the place for you!
| Yes, it really is made of corn! | |

I would have posted more pictures but it was at this point that Sarah demanded the last 10 minutes of her life back.
As Sarah fled out of Mitchell and back to Interstate 90, I snapped some other highlights of this quaint little town:

Some shots as Sarah flew across the Missouri River in the middle of South Dakota. So far, she's managed to get my 2002 Honda Accord (4 cylinders) to top out at about 105 MPH.

As we stopped for gas later today, I noticed the following tourist trap lure:

We skipped this tourist trap, because we had learned from our last trip that any tourist trap involving Elvis Presley was bound to be a bomb. But fear not, South Dakota will yield to us many more tourist traps!
