South Dakota wasn't all flatlands. As we got to the western part of the state, we saw the beginnings of the Rocky Mountains.

This place was actually quite nice to stop by. It is north of the Badlands National Park. There were not too many photo ops here as we wanted to save photos for the Badlands.

No, this isn't North Philly. But it was one of the few places about which Native American and Western settlers agreed upon. They both described this place in terms which translated to "Bad Lands." I would say however that this place ranks right up there with Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.
